Team Overview: The Blackstone Team

As the Blackstone Recruitment Director, you are a pivotal member of the Blackstone Team, playing a critical role in shaping the future of legal advocacy within ADF. This position is central to our mission, focusing on the strategic identification and selection of exceptional law students. You will be instrumental in developing, supervising, and continually evaluating Blackstone’s comprehensive recruitment plan. Your collaboration with the broader Blackstone team will ensure a personalized, seamless, and highly effective approach to recruiting and selecting future legal leaders. You will work in close partnership with leadership to integrate all recruitment efforts, guaranteeing an inclusive and effective strategy, while also overseeing the day-to-day operational excellence of our recruitment initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full Recruitment Lifecycle Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all applicants, overseeing the entire recruitment lifecycle from initial inquiry through selection, offer, and successful onboarding. You will ensure every candidate experiences a consistent, mission-aligned, and exceptional journey.
  • Candidate Evaluation & Interview Leadership: Lead and manage the comprehensive applicant evaluation and interview process. This includes strategic interviewer assignment, meticulous timeline management, and conducting direct candidate interviews to rigorously assess mission fit, character, and leadership potential.
  • Strategic Recruitment Development: Provide both strategic and operational leadership for all law student recruitment efforts. You will be responsible for designing, refining, and implementing a comprehensive, mission-aligned recruitment strategy that continually evolves.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Supervise and actively develop the Blackstone recruitment team. This involves establishing clear priorities, ensuring accountability, setting high performance standards, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
  • National Recruitment Initiatives: Set the strategic direction for and oversee high-volume, national recruitment initiatives. These initiatives will span in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats, requiring a commitment to operational excellence and responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Multi-Channel Recruitment Strategy: Guide recruitment efforts across a diverse array of channels, including direct engagement with law schools, student organizations, and partner networks. You will adapt strategies proactively based on data-driven insights and emerging opportunities.
  • Recruitment Systems Oversight: Oversee all recruitment systems, tools, and infrastructure. Your focus will be on ensuring data integrity, optimizing efficient workflows, and enabling timely, accurate reporting.
  • Leadership Partnership & Advisory: Partner closely with the Vice President and senior leadership to provide expert advice on critical areas such as recruitment strategy, staffing needs, budgeting, systems enhancements, and resource allocation.
  • Data Analysis & Insights: Analyze comprehensive recruitment data and trends. You will provide actionable insights on yield rates, conversion metrics, outreach diversity, institutional engagement effectiveness, and overall candidate experience.
  • Relationship Building & Representation: Build and maintain strong, enduring relationships with law schools and student organizations. You will represent Blackstone during essential fall recruitment travel and oversee related student programming and all recruitment communications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience: 7+ years of relevant professional experience in recruitment or talent acquisition, preferably within a legal or mission-driven context.
  • Strategic Acumen: A deep understanding of people, organizational dynamics, and key recruitment metrics. Proven ability to translate complex data into actionable strategy and measurable recruitment outcomes.
  • Legal Talent Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in best practices for legal talent recruitment, sophisticated candidate assessment methodologies, and effective pipeline development, particularly within mission-driven and high-performance environments.
  • Exceptional Communication: Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, that inspire confidence, build trust, and foster durable relationships with candidates, academic partners, and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Organizational Excellence: High organizational acumen, meticulous attention to detail, and the discipline required to manage complex, high-volume workflows without compromising candidate experience or strategic focus.
