Job Description

This is an Internship position for a Biomedical Equipment Services Intern.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $17.00/hour. It is an Hourly position.

Work Schedule: The standard work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. The job description notes that the work schedule can be worked around the school schedule while school is in session, indicating flexibility for the student.

Position Summary:
As a Biomedical Equipment Services Intern, the individual will gain real-world experience by working alongside a team of experienced Biomedical Equipment Service Technicians within one of OSF HealthCare’s nationally recognized medical centers. The primary purpose of this internship is to supplement the intern’s ongoing education through hands-on repairs and maintenance of medical devices.

Key Responsibilities:
The intern will perform various tasks under the direct supervision of an experienced Biomedical Equipment Services Technician, Supervisor, or Manager:
Perform and document equipment incoming acceptance inspections.
Complete and document scheduled maintenance on medical equipment.
Troubleshoot, repair medical equipment, and accurately document all activities related to these tasks.
Document all service and maintenance related activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Conduct rounds throughout the hospital to support equipment management.
• Become familiar with, and act in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations governing the repair and maintenance of medical devices.
Represent the Department of Clinical Engineering & Biomedical Equipment Services in a compassionate and professional manner to all patients, guests, and OSF HealthCare Mission Partners.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this internship, candidates must meet one of the following academic criteria:
• Currently enrolled in, and have completed the first year of an Associate’s Degree program for Biomedical Equipment Repair, Electronics, or another related field.
OR
• Currently enrolled in, and have completed the second year of a Bachelor’s Degree program for Biomedical Equipment Repair, Electronics, or another related field.
In addition to academic qualifications, candidates must possess:
Basic computer skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
