What You Will Do

In this role, you will develop crucial sales and customer engagement skills by focusing on understanding customer needs, identifying opportunities, and recommending tailored solutions. You will be instrumental in promoting the compelling Johnson Controls value proposition to a diverse range of clients, including building owners/facilities and information technology (IT) leaders. Your passion for customer focus and service excellence will drive your success.

How You Will Do It

This internship places you at the forefront of the sales process, where you will:

  • Be responsible for booking qualified meetings for your frontline sales counterparts, acting as a crucial bridge between potential clients and our expert sales team.
  • Engage directly with customers on a daily basis to identify their needs and offer appropriate Johnson Controls solutions, or seamlessly hand off booked meetings to the relevant sales representative.
  • Maintain consistent communication by following up with your frontline sales counterpart after meetings and throughout the entire sales cycle, ensuring a smooth customer journey.
  • Proactively build and maintain your sales pipeline, demonstrating initiative and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate within a supportive team environment to manage and optimize the customer experience life-cycle from initial contact through to potential conversion.

What We Look For:

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly within a fast-paced Field Sales environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), internet software, and email.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • A high level of integrity and a resilient temperament.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of prior customer-facing sales experience.
  • A proven track record of over-achieving goals in previous academic or professional settings.
  • Experience working with software-based programs, such as customer management systems (CRM) or system design tools.
  • The ability to rapidly build knowledge of Johnson Controls’ extensive product lines and solutions.

Compensation & Benefits:

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $19-22/hour (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
