Location: Stark County, OH

Organization: National Youth Advocate Program

National Youth Advocate Program is actively seeking internship applications for our Behavioral Health team for the upcoming Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 terms in Stark County, OH.

As an intern, you will gain invaluable hands-on experience working with our Intensive Home-Based Treatment (IHBT) team. This role involves direct interaction with youth and families, both in the office setting and within the community. Furthermore, you will have the unique opportunity to observe various other therapeutic areas across the agency, providing a comprehensive insight into the diverse communities and clients we serve. This position emphasizes close collaboration with youth, families, foster parents, and community partners.

Your Internship Experience May Include:

  • Providing appropriate individual, group, and family mental health services, alongside comprehensive case management, transportation, and other professional services. The goal is to consistently meet or exceed established outcomes thresholds for persons served.
  • Traveling as required to deliver community-based services directly to, and on behalf of, youth and families, ensuring full compliance with organizational, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Timely completion of all required documentation pertinent to client services and agency operations.
  • Completing all mandatory training sessions within specified timeframes.
  • Coordinating and monitoring a range of services for the youth and family within the community, including mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services.
  • Regularly reviewing and modifying youth-based plans to ensure consistent progress and successful achievement of written plan goals.
  • Actively assisting in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth’s primary family or other permanent living arrangements, consistent with the youth’s case plan.
  • Active and consistent participation in the weekly supervision process to enhance learning and professional development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
  • Current enrollment in an accredited institution for a Master’s Degree in Social Work or a Master’s in Clinical Counseling.
  • A formal internship or field placement must be a requirement stipulated by your academic institution.
  • Upon successful completion of the internship, the individual must receive academic credit toward their pursued degree.
  • LSW, SWT, or CT licensure is required.
  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older on the first day of their internship.
  • Demonstrated capacity to maintain objectivity and professionalism across all areas of job function.
  • Proficient use of various technology, including desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers. Proficiency in software such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs is also required.

Driving and Vehicle Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Access to reliable personal transportation.
  • A good driving record.
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability.
