Job Description: Battery Algorithms Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled intern to join our dynamic Battery Algorithms team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge battery management features for mass-market passenger vehicles and energy products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in battery control and algorithms, modeling, and various battery chemistries, approaching work with vigor and determination in a fast-paced environment.

Your Responsibilities:

• Work within a dynamic, cross-functional team to advance our innovative battery management features.
• Contribute to our world-acclaimed battery product portfolio for mass-market passenger vehicles and energy products.
• Collect and review laboratory and fleet data to support the development and quality assessment of high-quality battery controls and algorithms, ensuring real-time safety and performance of vehicle battery packs.
• Develop and/or improve advanced battery controls and algorithms to significantly enhance vehicle performance and customer experience.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including controls, battery cells, embedded software, system engineering, and vehicle integration teams to define requirements and perform integration testing.
• Provide support to the Battery Software department with additional duties/tasks as needed.

The Essentials – You Will Have:

Knowledge of Battery Chemistries: Proficiency with LFP and NMC.
Battery Controls & Algorithms: Strong understanding of general battery controls and algorithms design.
Battery Management Systems: Experience with Battery Management Systems (BMS) and EV powertrain.
Software Proficiency: Expertise in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++.
Academic Background: Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program at an accredited university in one of the following fields:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Industrial Engineering
• Manufacturing Engineering
• Other related engineering fields.
Proof of Enrollment: Ability to provide proof of current enrollment or enrollment into the next program (MS, PhD).
Electrochemistry & Modeling: Knowledge of electrochemistry and battery modeling.
Vehicle Controls: Familiarity with vehicle controls such as motor, onboard charger, and thermal systems.
