Job Title: Banking Industry Internship

Internship Duration: 10 Weeks (June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026)

Pay: $20/hour

Summary

This 10-week full-time internship at First Horizon offers a comprehensive and immersive experience for students eager to gain practical knowledge and skills in the banking industry. Interns will be exposed to various leaders and aspects of the line of business weekly, undertaking projects that illuminate the day-to-day operations of a bank and foster a well-rounded skillset. The program emphasizes guidance from experienced professionals, participation in meetings, and networking opportunities with peers and associates.

By the conclusion of the internship, participants will have acquired valuable insights, established a solid foundation in banking practices, and potentially opened doors for future career opportunities at First Horizon.

Role Summary

As an intern, you will partner with the National Sales workstream leads and a cross-functional team to identify and operationalize key metrics for evaluating a regional pilot within the Consumer Bank. Your focus areas will include sales and marketing effectiveness, associate training effectiveness and readiness, product testing, and client engagement/service models.

Key deliverables for this internship include:

  • A comprehensive measurement plan with defined baselines and thresholds.
  • Prototype dashboards or reporting templates.
  • Weekly/monthly pilot scorecards.
  • Data insights summaries.
  • A final presentation to pilot stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Metric framework development:
    • Review each National Sales workstream to understand goals, processes, and available data.
    • Align gathered data with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), leading indicators, and success thresholds for pilot evaluation.
  • Measurement plan and governance:
    • Propose data collection methods, sampling plans, and reporting cadence (weekly/monthly).
    • Identify control groups/baselines and outline how to compare pilot versus non-pilot performance.
    • Document assumptions, data sources, and quality checks; flag data gaps and propose remediation steps.
  • Reporting and insights:
    • Build draft dashboards or reporting templates (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau) for KPI visibility.
    • Produce concise insight summaries highlighting progress, risks, and recommended actions.
    • Present findings to pilot stakeholders and contribute to readouts for leadership.
  • Cross-functional collaboration:
    • Partner with Consumer Banking, National Sales, Marketing, Learning & Development, Operations, and Data & Analytics associates to align on measurement goals and execution.

Qualifications

  • Full-time undergraduate student with an anticipated graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Strong interest in business and finance (no specific major or field required).
  • Resourceful, team-oriented, and enthusiastic.
  • Demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Demonstrated leadership and self-development (through work or campus activities).
  • Ability to interface and network with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong analytical skills; hands-on proficiency with Excel and comfort interpreting data.
  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI or Tableau) preferred.
