Job Description: Backend Engineer
Julius is seeking a Backend Engineer to join its small, deeply technical team. This role involves leading the design, implementation, and scaling of systems powering both web and mobile products.
Responsibilities:
• Build products that bring AI capabilities to millions of knowledge workers.
• Build and scale backend systems that power the core Julius product.
• Develop interfaces between the backend and web/mobile clients.
• Work on scaling and load balancing web server backends to meet rapidly changing needs.
Qualifications:
• Strong experience with Python or an equivalent backend programming language.
• Strong experience with databases, connection pooling, and concurrency.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Familiarity with infrastructure, Kubernetes, and Terraform (or a willingness to learn).
• Extensible system design skills.
• 2+ years of engineering experience.
Bonus Points:
• Experience or familiarity with R (the programming language).
• Experience building an AI side project and a demonstrated interest in prompting and using LLMs.
