AVP – Data Governance & Data Quality | Mashreq

The Tone:
This is a full-time AVP role at Mashreq, located in the United Arab Emirates. Mashreq is a leading financial institution, and this role is critical for establishing and leading robust Data Governance and Data Quality capabilities. The position ensures enterprise data is trusted, governed, and fit for crucial business, regulatory, and AI use cases across the bank.

• Team: Data & Analytics / Enterprise Data Management, reporting to the Head of Data Management or Head of Data Governance & Quality.
• Mission: Lead the Bank’s Data Governance and Data Quality capabilities by establishing governance practices, driving stakeholder accountability, improving data quality, and ensuring enterprise data is trusted, governed, and fit for business, regulatory, risk, financial reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.
• Tech Stack: Informatica, DEQ, Power BI/Tableau, or equivalent platforms.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Governance Leadership: Lead the implementation of the Data Governance Framework across the Bank and drive adoption of Data Management policies, standards, and controls.
• Data Quality Ownership: Own the enterprise Data Quality Framework, defining standards, rules, controls, and monitoring processes, including Data Quality KPIs and an enterprise Data Quality Index.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for Data Governance and Data Quality matters across all business and technology domains, holding stakeholders accountable for data obligations.
• Regulatory & Audit Support: Support regulatory reviews, audits, assurance activities, and risk assessments related to data management, ensuring all governance evidence and documentation are audit-ready.
• Capability Building: Lead and develop Data Governance and Data Quality resources, coaching Data Stewards and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the organization.

The Must-Haves
• Background: 5+ years in Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Management, Risk Data, Regulatory Data, or Enterprise Information Management, with strong experience in banking, financial services, or another regulated industry.
• Experience: Proven ability to lead enterprise-wide Data Governance and Data Quality programs, influence senior stakeholders, enforce accountability, and drive cross-functional remediation efforts.
• Skills: Expertise in data governance frameworks, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), metadata, business glossary, data lineage, data catalog, and operating models; strong command of data quality rules, controls, profiling, monitoring, dashboards, root-cause analysis, and remediation lifecycles; demonstrated leadership in stakeholder influence, executive communication, autonomous problem-solving, and change management.
