Job Description: Automation Internship
This is a 14-week full-time internship (with potential flexibility in timeline and schedule) for students pursuing a BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with graduation expected within one year of the internship duration. The internship is focused on contributing to the company’s Automation team.
Responsibilities: The intern will participate in various stages of simple robotics systems development, from prototyping to validation. Specific tasks include:
• Participating in prototype development and testing, including creating detailed design outputs and technical documentation.
• Assisting in the design, development, and testing of mechanical components and prototypes.
• Participating in the research and development phases of electromechanical projects involving sensors, actuators, and control systems.
• Participating in the execution and documentation of test protocols.
• Assisting in the design and development of testing processes, focusing on relevant metrics for equipment verification and performance.
• Working effectively with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, and electrical engineering).
Required Qualifications:
• Pursuing a BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Graduation expected within 1 year of the internship.
• Portfolio demonstrating relevant experience and projects (preferred projects related to material handling and pharmaceutical or food manufacturing).
• Strong understanding of mechanical or electrical design and electromechanical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter with excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with mechanical CAD (Solidworks preferred).
• Familiarity with electrical schematics capture and board layout.
• Familiarity with rapid prototyping and hands-on mechanical assembly.
• Familiarity with robotics and automation in warehouse and pharmaceutical industries.
• Familiarity with design controls and pharmaceutical regulations.
The internship is a full-time, on-site position with a standard 40-hour work week. It involves prolonged computer work and may require lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to moderate noise levels.
