As an Automation Intern at CRB, you will be more than an observer; you will be an active and meaningful contributor to real-world projects. This internship is specifically designed to immerse you in the design and construction of advanced facilities for our clients in the life sciences and food & beverage sectors. As a leader in the AEC industry, CRB delivers integrated solutions that bring these complex facilities to life, and you will play a crucial role in that process.

You will gain invaluable hands-on experience with cutting-edge automation technologies, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and process controls. Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing project documents, which may include calculations, comprehensive reports, detailed construction drawings, and precise specifications for clients. This work will be performed in close coordination with regulatory bodies and industry standards.
  • Assisting with the development of conceptual designs and ensuring seamless coordination with the broader design team, all under the expert direction of the project team lead.
  • Coordinating effectively with other disciplines and various internal and external team members, including vendors, clients, and contractors, to ensure project alignment and success.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
  • A strong, demonstrated interest in the Food & Beverage or Life Sciences industries.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to analyze complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective work across diverse disciplines and with various internal and external stakeholders (vendors, clients, contractors).
  • An eagerness to learn about the AEC industry and apply academic engineering knowledge to real-world applications.
  • Willingness to relocate or work in one of CRB’s internship locations, which may include: Kansas City (MO), Raleigh (NC), Orange County (CA), Philadelphia (PA), St. Louis (MO), Boston (MA), San Diego (CA), Kalamazoo (MI), Denver (CO), and/or Rockville (MD).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working towards or having completed the Fundamental of Engineering Exam registration.
  • Familiarity with various Engineering Software Applications, including computer-aided drafting (CAD), process modeling, and calculation programs.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards within the AEC industry.
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
