Description: Automation & Controls Engineer II

Location: Cornelia, Georgia, United States

Function: Supply Chain Engineering

Sub Function: Automation Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Improvement of Manufacturing Equipment: Collaborates with internal teams and external vendors to design new manufacturing equipment or modify existing equipment, adhering to regulatory, industry, and Johnson & Johnson standards.
Project Management: Effectively and safely manages or supports projects to meet business objectives in areas such as quality, finance, safety, and performance goals.
Equipment Currently pursuing: Supports the coordination and execution of qualification processes for new or improved manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
Quality and Safety Investigations: Leads or supports investigations related to equipment issues, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
Technology Evaluation: Supports evaluations of new technologies to enhance process safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
Reporting and Training: Prepares technical reports and project updates, coordinates training for personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
Asset Management: Analyzes maintenance trends to support investment strategies for manufacturing assets.
Capital Appropriation Requests: Organizes and presents Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) outlining project scope and funding needs.
Compliance: Ensures adherence to all Federal, State, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures, including Johnson & Johnson’s environmental and safety guidelines.
Leadership: Accountable to the Johnson & Johnson Standards of Leadership, emphasizing Credo Values, customer focus, innovation, problem-solving, and organizational development.

Currently pursuings:

Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment, OR Advanced Degree (M.S.) with relevant Internship or co-op experience.
Preferred: Project management experience, PMP or similar credential, experience developing engineering documentation, experience with industrial control systems (PLC/DCS), servomotors, inspection and vision systems, instrumentation, SCADA networks, MES systems, programming/coding skills, experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or regulated industries, Lean or Six Sigma certification.
Essential Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving abilities, knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

Additional Information:

• This position is primarily located in Cornelia, GA, but some onsite support in Athens, GA may be required.
• 10% domestic travel may be required.
