The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Simon Property Group, located in Corporate Indianapolis. The company seeks an Accounting major to gain comprehensive audit experience. This role provides the unique opportunity of receiving both internal and external audit experience, with the intern splitting time between working directly with external auditors and assisting the internal audit team. The position is crucial for supporting robust financial controls and compliance across the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• External Audit Support: Support external auditors (EY) in testing Sarbanes-Oxley controls, annual financial audits, and individual partnership audits.
• Internal Control Testing: Perform Sarbanes-Oxley testing and internal audits, documenting control tests and findings in audit workpapers.
• Audit Project Assistance: Contribute to the planning and execution of various audit projects within Audit Services.
• Skill Development: Develop expertise in risk assessment, workpaper documentation standards, and performing tests of internal controls.
• Professional Interaction: Engage in professional communication with external auditors, clients, auditees, and colleagues.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance; Entry-Level
• Experience: Working knowledge of Excel and Word.
• Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, self-starter mentality and ability to work independently, and understanding of auditing and accounting principles.
