Assurance Intern – Summer 2027 | RSM US LLP

The Tone:
This is a Summer 2027 internship at RSM US LLP, requiring travel to client locations. The company is a leading provider of professional services to the middle market globally. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: Travel required to client locations
• Pay: $36–$43 hourly
• Mission: Solve accounting and reporting issues by performing audit procedures and evaluating controls for middle market clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Understanding: Understand clients’ needs and expectations, their business and industry, accounting and control systems, employees, company values, and industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues.
• Audit Methodology: Develop and apply an understanding of the RSM audit approach and associated tools.
• Risk Assessment: Assess client risks and evaluate their internal control structure.
• Issue Resolution: Perform substantive tests and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues.
• Financial Reporting: Draft financial statements according to prescribed formats.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Pursuing a B.A. or B.S. degree (or equivalent) in Accounting from an accredited university, with at least 90 credit hours completed.
• Experience: Requires travel to assigned client locations and access to reliable modes of transportation.
• Skills: Understanding of industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues, ability to assess risks and evaluate internal control structures, proficiency in performing substantive and internal control tests, and skills in drafting financial statements.
• Bonus: A preferred minimum GPA of 3.0.
