Job Description: Audit Intern

KPMG is seeking an Audit Intern to join its Audit Services team. This internship offers the opportunity to play an integral role in conducting financial statement audits for capital markets clients, contributing to the accuracy and reliability of client financial information while upholding principles of objectivity and independence.

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of a team to conduct financial statement audits, focusing on ensuring the accuracy and reliability of client financial information. This includes working primarily with Korean clients or non-Korean companies requiring strategic assistance in Korea.
• Develop an understanding of client-specific risks through reviewing financial results, external information, current business trends, and client transactions.
• Prepare clear and well-structured audit documentation detailing the understanding of client processes and technology systems.
• Execute and document testing of client controls and financial statement account balances, adhering to established standards and terminology.
• Support the execution of high-quality audits through assigned tasks and professional interactions with clients and the engagement team.
• Utilize Data and Analytics (D&A) in the audit process, including data extraction and analysis. This involves using a variety of technologies and tools such as artificial intelligence (AI), Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Power BI. Preparation of related documentation is also required.
• Maintain KPMG’s respectful and courteous work environment by acting with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility.

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or equivalent program.
• Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the relevant state. Academic credit requirements must be met before starting as an Audit Associate.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Bilingual in English and Korean, with the ability to use both languages effectively in a business environment.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred, as is experience with data analysis tools like Alteryx or Power BI.
• Knowledge of technical accounting and financial reporting standards, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in various computer applications, especially MS Office (particularly Excel), and the ability to quickly learn KPMG Audit tools and client applications.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality service, strong communication, time management, and relationship-building skills. The ability to exercise sound professional judgment and professional skepticism is crucial. Flexibility, adaptability, teamwork, leadership experience, resourcefulness, and project management skills are all valued assets.
• Must reside within a commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to client sites as needed. The role requires an average of three in-person workdays per week at a KPMG office or client site, with potential for travel and overnight stays.
