Audit Associate | Mauldin & Jenkins

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mauldin & Jenkins, located in Covington, LA. This Audit Associate position offers a significant opportunity for an individual to build their professional career within a supportive environment. What You’ll Actually Do
• Internal Controls: Assist with the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls, including testing compliance when their evaluation shows they can be relied upon.
• Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare financial statements for clients in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Tax Return Preparation: Work on various tax return types including S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnership, Multi-State, Individual, trust, and estate, and stay current with tax laws and regulations.
• Client Interaction: Interact and work closely with clients and client executives to provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance services.
• Account Reconciliation: Examine client reconciliations of bank accounts and subsidiary accounts to controls, investigating and documenting discrepancies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Obtained a college degree with a major or concentration in accounting; this is an Entry-Level career opportunity.
• Experience: No specific years of experience required; however, the associate is expected to develop technical skills and personal qualifications.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; well-rounded knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards as defined in accounting and auditing literature; working knowledge of Federal and state income tax laws and regulations at a level sufficient for the preparation of tax returns; ability to establish a practice of accuracy in dealing with information; proficiency in the use of available firm resources like manuals and computer software.
• Bonus: Currently working towards completing the CPA exam; willingness to travel overnight as necessary; flexibility to work weekends, especially as deadlines approach.
