Role Summary

As an Astrodynamics Intern, you will join our dedicated astrodynamics team, contributing to vital mission analysis tasks across various programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to enhance and expand our in-house modeling and simulation capabilities while gaining invaluable experience in complex astrodynamics disciplines.

Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities

Over the course of your 10-12 week internship experience, you will:

  • Work alongside experienced engineers to support mission analysis.
  • Expand the test coverage of our in-house astrodynamics software developed in Matlab and Python.
  • Improve and optimize existing modeling and simulation tools for enhanced efficiency.
  • Assist in the development of new astrodynamics tools and demonstrations.
  • Gain hands-on experience in:
    • Orbital mechanics
    • Orbit determination
    • Maneuver planning
    • Rendezvous
    • Constellation design
    • Coverage analysis
    • Cislunar modeling
  • Specifically, you will have the opportunity to:
    • Write unit test functions for in-house astrodynamics software.
    • Develop illustrative examples and tutorials for core astrodynamics tools.
    • Build automated test suites for select programs.
    • Develop one or more new astrodynamics tools.
    • Present your work to the engineering team at the end of the summer.

Work Environment & Location

  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of our facilities.
  • Shift: 1st shift.
  • Millennium Space Systems is a Drug Free Workplace (DFW) where post-offer applicants and employees are subject to testing.
  • This is not a Safety Sensitive Position.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2026.
  • Currently pursuing an Aerospace Engineering or equivalent major.
  • Proficient with MATLAB and Python.
  • Experience using GMAT.
  • Enrolled as a student attending a college or university with an expected graduation date on or after August 2026.
  • U.S. Person Requirement: To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. This includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility: Applicants MUST be U.S. citizens and eligible for a security clearance. Additionally, applicants must be willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Strong academic performance (preferred GPA of 3.0 or above).
  • Exceptional organizational and collaboration skills, as demonstrated through leadership positions on teams and/or in student or civic organizations.
  • Strong technical experiences, as demonstrated through technical projects, research, or engineering internships.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a strong interest and enthusiasm related to engineering, aerospace, and a career with Boeing.
  • Junior or Senior class standing.

Additional Requirements

  • Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Summary Pay Range: $21.15 /hr – $30.77 / hr. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
