Assurance Intern – Summer 2027 (Baltimore) | BDO USA
The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at BDO USA, located in Baltimore, MD. BDO is a global accounting firm that provides assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients worldwide. This role is crucial for future accounting professionals, offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in assurance, understand firm practices, and build foundational relationships for a successful career.

• Mission: Support experienced team members in problem-solving and fact-finding within BDO’s assurance practice to serve a dynamic client base.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Training: Participate in a structured training program to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Audit Support: Assist with various stages of the audit process, applying BDO’s specific audit methodology and providing support to audit staff during engagements.
• Client Communication: Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Documentation: Prepare and document work in working papers utilizing BDO’s specific tools and templates.
• Research Project: Complete an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting, focusing on foundational accounting and auditing principles.
• Experience: No specific years required; leadership experience is preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); strong written and verbal communication; ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Bonus: Pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting; actively pursuing school credits toward CPA eligibility; positive attitude and willingness to learn.
