The Tone:
This is an Associate Project Accountant role at Ardmore Roderick, located in our Chicago office with potential for a hybrid schedule. Ardmore Roderick is a full-service infrastructure solutions firm specializing in Utilities, Transportation, Aviation, Rail and Transit, Building and Facilities Projects. This role is crucial for joining a team of infrastructure solutions experts to help solve clients’ ever-evolving project needs by ensuring accurate and timely financial management of projects.

• Mission: This person ensures financial accuracy and timely reporting for infrastructure projects through meticulous accounting practices.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office products and programs, Deltek’s VantagePoint or Vision software (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Setup: You will establish and maintain project financial details including rate tables, budgets, and contract management.
• Invoice Processing: You will ensure all invoices are recorded properly and timely to the correct projects, cost reports, and phase codes.
• Transaction Management: You will process accounts payable vouchers and assist with accounts receivable cash collection efforts.
• Financial Reporting: You will create accurate and timely project reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Discrepancy Resolution & Cost Control: You will investigate and resolve any financial discrepancies or issues, taking ownership and initiative for cost analysis and control.

The Must-Haves
• Background: You possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience: You have 0-2 years of experience in an accounting-centric role. Experience within Engineering, commercial construction, or a related industry is a plus.
• Skills: You demonstrate strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and good to great organizational skills. You are proficient in Microsoft Office products and programs and communicate proficiently in written and verbal forms with a team player mindset.
• Bonus: Advanced degree(s), working knowledge of construction accounting principles, experience with subcontract agreements and lien waivers, knowledge of Deltek’s VantagePoint or Vision software, or past accounting-related internships.
