Associate Director – Data Centers | Turner & Townsend

• Team: Data Centre team in London
• Mission: Lead and support the full lifecycle of large-scale, ground-up data centre construction projects across Europe from inception through to commissioning.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Project Conception: Advise at a strategic level during the project conception stage, providing guidance on optimal approaches to successfully achieve the client’s overall objectives for data centre projects.
• Success Criteria & Governance: Lead the establishment of comprehensive project success criteria, encompassing time, cost, technical, and performance parameters, and implement effective governance, processes, and systems throughout the project lifecycle.
• Project Planning & Team Leadership: Oversee detailed project planning, ensuring the timely production of project plans, and lead and facilitate the overall cross-functional project team for ground-up data centre construction.
• Performance & Financial Management: Monitor and apply performance management techniques, including KPIs, to improve project outcomes, while also managing the change control process and advising upon project finances.
• Client & Consultant Interfacing: Take a leading role in managing communications and relationships with clients and other consultants across all project stages, ensuring clear information flow through regular meetings and formal reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Professionally qualified in construction, project management, engineering, or architecture, with chartered status or actively pursuing it. Possess a thorough understanding of the entire project life cycle, from conception through operational stages to completion and post-project review.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in design, management, or construction gained within the general construction environment. Strong preference for construction consultancy experience.
• Skills: Excellent knowledge and experience of all main project management concepts, tools, and techniques. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Bonus: Experience within residential, office, fit-outs, health, and education construction environments is ideal.
