Job Description – Associate Development Engineer:
Location: Raynham, Massachusetts, United States
Function: R&D Product Development
Sub Function: Biomedical Engineering
This role is within the Joints R&D Commercialized Product Development Team. The Associate Development Engineer will provide technical support for a portfolio of Hip and Knee orthopedic medical devices that are already released and on the market. This position involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams to support a diverse range of products globally.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the SCRUM process: Actively participate and complete assigned tasks received from internal and external customers, including:
• MIR’s (Market Information Reports)
• PVE’s (Product Verification & Evaluation)
• NC’s (Nonconformances)
• CAPA’s (Corrective and Preventive Actions)
• UAI’s (Urgent Action Items)
• HA requests (Health Authority)
• Design changes
• Complaints
• Conduct design verification and validation activities.
• Provide technical product support to internal and external customers.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Support drawing changes in collaboration with designers.
• Update product development/DHF documentation: This includes risk management, RTM’s (Risk Transfer Matrices), biocompatibility, usability, drawings, etc.
• Support audit activities of legacy knee and hip devices.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or closely related degree.
• Prior internship or co-op experience in the medical/healthcare industry.
• Proven analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
• Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage a dynamic workload.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including experience presenting to multidisciplinary audiences.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred:
• Medical device industry experience.
• High motivation and ability to work independently on multiple projects under general direction.
• Demonstrated understanding of basic engineering and scientific principles.
• Ability to identify and communicate problems and issues promptly.
• Interest in medical device/orthopedic fields.
• Strong ability to build and cultivate internal and external collaborations.

• Up to 10% travel, both domestic and international, may be required.
