Job Description: Assistant Mechanical Engineer (or Energy & Utilities Analyst)

The Assistant Mechanical Engineer (or Energy & Utilities Analyst) will work under the supervision of a consultant or project manager to develop solutions for the technical and economic challenges faced by energy and utility clients. Responsibilities include:

Power System Studies: Assisting with power system studies evaluating power plants (fossil fuel and renewable) and delivery systems (transmission and distribution). This includes tasks such as power supply planning, due diligence, performance and benchmarking evaluations, site assessments, investment planning, condition assessments, financial cost/benefit evaluations, and renewable development.
Analysis and Application of Principles: Analyzing, interpreting, and applying engineering, financial, and economic conditions, theories, and principles to complete assigned tasks, considering both technical and business implications for client projects. Applying basic knowledge of engineering and financial concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the consulting services industry.
Life-Cycle Cost Analysis: Assisting with analyzing life-cycle costs by developing and incorporating technical assumptions regarding capital costs, operation and maintenance costs, performance estimates, and economic assumptions and forecasts.
Regulatory Impact Assessments: Assisting the project team with technical assessments that evaluate the impacts of rules implemented by regulatory agencies.
Drawing Design and Review: Assisting with designing, reviewing, and modifying drawings to meet project requirements set by project managers.
Power System Support: Supporting power system planning and operations analysis, including power flow, transient, stability, short circuit, electromagnetic transients, reliability, and economic dispatch. This involves utilizing power system software for transmission/distribution study analysis.
Generation Assessments: Supporting engineering, technical, and economic assessments for both fossil and renewable generation.
Risk Assessment: Supporting technical and business-related risk assessments.
Financial Analysis: Supporting the development and performance of detailed financial analysis using various computer-based software.
Report and Presentation Development: Supporting the development of technical reports and presentations summarizing analysis results. This includes support for client presentations, engineering reviews, financial analysis, and contract administration for the design/planning of utility systems.
General Support: Supporting Utility Consulting business lines as needed by clients.
Compliance: Complying with all company policies and standards. Performing other duties as assigned.
