Assistant Instructor | Black Rocket

The Tone:
This is a seasonal contract role at Black Rocket, located across multiple partner regions within the US. Black Rocket creates unique educational programs for children and young adults, blending creativity with technology. This role is vital for inspiring kids aged 6-14, preparing them for the future by igniting their distinct talents through hands-on learning in technology.

The TL;DR
• Role: Contract
• Type: Seasonal (4–10 weeks, Monday–Friday)
• Location: Multiple partner regions across the US
• Pay: $13–$15 hourly
• Mission: Inspire kids aged 6-14 through hands-on learning in technology and creative problem-solving.
• Tech Stack: Python, Javascript, Lua, Roblox, Minecraft, App Design, Game Creation/Design, Animation, Video Editing, 3D Modeling, Robotics, Drones

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruction: Directly guide and support students aged 6-14 in technology-based enrichment programs.
• Facilitation: Lead engaging hands-on learning experiences in creative technology fields such as game design, digital arts, and robotics.
• Environment Building: Foster a fun and educational environment where students explore and develop their unique talents in technology.
• Program Support: Assist lead instructors in program delivery and classroom management.
• Training: Complete paid online training in May to prepare for summer program instruction.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be 18 years of age or older, with an interest in tech education, video games, coding, digital arts, robotics, or STEM.
• Experience: No specific formal experience is required; however, experience with children in formal or informal settings is a plus.
• Skills: Strong technology skills, including coding, 3D modeling, game design, animation, video editing, digital arts, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Bonus: College students studying education, computer science, digital arts, information technology, or similar fields are encouraged to apply.
