ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOOD SVCS PURCHASING | Montefiore Medical Center

The Tone:

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Day – MON-FRI, ALTERNATING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS
• Location: In-person – Bronx, New York
• Pay: $100000–$125000 yearly
• Team: FAC – NUTR Food & NUTR Administration
• Mission: The role ensures the continuous availability of essential food, supplies, and equipment for patient care and retail food service operations by overseeing procurement, vendor management, and cost control.
• Tech Stack: Purchasing systems, Inventory management software, Microsoft Office applications

What You’ll Actually Do
• Directing: Assist in directing and managing all food service purchasing functions for the department.
• Vendor Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, service, and competitive pricing.
• Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels and implement effective control practices to minimize waste and prevent shortages.
• Cost Optimization: Analyze purchasing trends, utilization data, and market conditions to identify and realize cost-saving opportunities.
• Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with organizational policies, contractual agreements, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or food service management.
• Skills: Strong understanding of procurement practices, inventory management, and vendor contract administration; proficiency with purchasing systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office applications; excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Bonus: Master’s degree; previous healthcare, hospital, hospitality, or institutional food service experience; supervisory or leadership experience.
