Arboriculture Intern | Bartlett Tree Experts

The Tone:
This is a full-time, seasonal internship at Bartlett Tree Experts, located in Pittsburgh West, PA. Bartlett is a scientific tree and shrub care company dedicated to keeping trees healthy and beautiful through expert pruning, insect and disease management, and soil care. This role is a unique opportunity for interns to gain practical field experience in scientific tree and shrub care, developing their careers through hands-on training in a professional and safe outdoor environment.

• Mission: To provide practical field experience and training in scientific tree and shrub care to develop future arboriculture professionals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Safely perform various arboriculture tasks, including pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, root collar excavations, and removals.
• Properly maintain and operate essential equipment, such as hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Gain an understanding of integrated pest management programs through property inspections, tree and pest identification, and soil sampling.
• Develop skills in record-keeping, report writing, and fostering positive client relations.
• Participate actively in safety and training meetings, building professional relationships and friendships within the team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career professional pursuing a degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Turfgrass, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Experience: Interest in working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Skills: A passion for nature and the environment, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively on a multi-disciplinary team.
