AR Accountant I | State of Oklahoma

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES), an agency of the State of Oklahoma located in an office setting. OMES provides essential service, expert guidance, and continuous improvement in support of state partners’ goals. This position is a critical part of the Finance team, supporting the state’s financial operations by accurately processing accounts receivable and maintaining financial data integrity.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Payment Processing: Batch payments into deposit groups, applying proper batch codes and entry reasons within the state system.
• Data Integrity: Verify that all accounting data aligns with applicable procedures, regulations, and internal controls, identifying and correcting discrepancies as needed.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members to resolve deposit issues, provide backup support, follow up on outstanding items, and submit system tickets.
• Record Management: Maintain organized electronic records and ensure agency folders are current and clearly labeled.
• Regulatory Compliance: Uphold consistent adherence to internal procedures, deadlines, and audit requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Four years of clerical, bookkeeping, or accounting experience, or a combination of education and experience, substituting one year of experience for each year of the required degree.
• Skills: Accurate payment batching, financial data reconciliation, adherence to accounting procedures, organized record keeping, and problem-solving.
• Bonus: Experience with PeopleSoft or other ERP systems.
