Job Title: Apprentice Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Technician

Summary:
The Apprentice Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Technician performs basic tasks related to Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) under direct supervision. This role focuses on practical training and gaining experience to progress into a qualified NDI Technician. The position has two levels, Apprentice NDI Technician 1 and 2, which are categorized based on the individual’s advancement through the apprenticeship program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs basic NDT examination tasks under the direct observation of a Technician Level II or Level III in the appropriate method(s).
• Records on-the-job-training (OJT) and hours of experience on approved documents.
• Maintains NDT Shop tooling and inventories.
• Obtains thorough working knowledge of NDT procedures.
• Successfully completes formal classroom training in PT (Penetrant Testing), ET (Eddy Current Testing), MT (Magnetic Particle Testing), UT (Ultrasonic Testing) methods, as assigned.
• Sets up and calibrates equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Apprentice NDI Technician 1 Specifics:
• Works towards obtaining a Repairman’s Certification for NDT or provides a current Airframe Certification.
• No aircraft/component experience or NDI experience is required.

Apprentice NDI Technician 2 Specifics:
• Obtains a Repairman’s Certification for NDT or Airframe Certification within 6 months.
• Works towards completion of at least two Level 1 NDT methods.
• Successfully completes all required OJT training and experience requirements to qualify for graduation from the NDI Apprenticeship program.
• Minimum of twelve (12) months of aircraft/component experience or A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) certification is required.

Education and Experience:
Apprentice NDI Technician 1: No aircraft/component experience or NDI experience required.
Apprentice NDI Technician 2: Minimum of twelve (12) months of aircraft/component experience or A&P certification required.
