Job Description

Outlier is a company (located outside the US) that helps the world’s most innovative companies improve their AI models by providing human feedback. They are seeking experienced mathematics experts to contribute their expertise to the training of AI models.

This is a freelance, remote opportunity offering flexible hours. The work involves leveraging mathematical expertise to improve AI model performance in several ways:

Evaluating the factuality and relevance of domain-specific text generated by AI models. This requires a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and the ability to assess the accuracy and appropriateness of AI-generated content within a specific mathematical context.

Creating and answering mathematics-related questions. This involves designing questions that test the AI model’s understanding of mathematical principles and providing accurate and insightful answers.

Evaluating and ranking domain-specific responses generated by AI models. This task necessitates the ability to critically assess multiple AI-generated responses, comparing their accuracy, clarity, and completeness.

The ideal candidate possesses:

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics or a related field.
• Experience working as a mathematics professional.
• The ability to write clearly and fluently in both English and Japanese regarding mathematical concepts.

Compensation: The hourly rate for core project work ranges from $30 to $50. Rates vary based on expertise, skill assessment, location, project needs, and other factors. Higher rates may be offered to those with PhDs, while lower rates may apply to non-core tasks like initial onboarding or project overflow. Specific projects may include incentive payments. Payment terms are detailed on a per-project basis.
