Description: Analytical Chemistry Internship
This internship, within the Quality Assurance department, supports Canon Production Printing’s ink manufacturing. The core task is to improve the existing methods for measuring inorganic impurities in raw materials using ICP OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry). These impurities are present at low concentrations, making detection challenging.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Sample Preparation Optimization: The intern will develop and refine sample preparation techniques for ICP OES measurements to ensure reliable and accurate results.
• ICP OES Parameter Optimization: The intern will optimize ICP OES measurement settings, including the selection of appropriate wavelengths for various elements, to enhance the system’s analytical performance.
• Method Validation: The optimized methods will be validated against ICP OES multiple elemental standards with known concentrations.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: The intern will analyze the data obtained, create graphs and reports, and present their findings.
• Communication and Collaboration: The intern will communicate their findings to R&D departments and collaborate with colleagues and other interns.
• Literature Research: The intern will conduct scientific literature research to support their work.
The goal is to achieve more reliable, reproducible, and quantitatively accurate measurements of inorganic impurities in raw materials. This will involve finding innovative ways to enhance the analytical performance of the existing ICP OES system.
The internship lasts approximately 5 months and offers a compensation of €500 per month plus travel cost reimbursement (if applicable). The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience with ICP OES, scientific literature research, chemical analysis, elemental analysis, report writing, data visualization, and presentations.
