Analyst, Power & Utilities | Scotiabank

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Scotiabank, located in Houston, TX. Scotiabank’s Global Banking and Markets (GBM) is a leading Canadian capital markets and investment banking business with a growing platform in the US and Latin America. This group provides a full range of investment banking, credit, and risk management products and services to clients globally. This role is crucial for executing transactions, preparing financial analyses, and supporting client relationships within the Power & Utilities sector.

• Mission: Execute transactions and prepare financial analysis to support client relationships and strategic development in the Power & Utilities industry.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transaction Execution: Execute on a broad range of transactions, with increasing levels of responsibility, by supporting structuring and execution efforts.
• Client Support: Prepare client presentations and financial modeling, and support Directors/MDs in managing client relationships within the industry sector.
• Business Development: Identify and develop business opportunities with clients while creating marketing materials to meet their financial needs.
• Financial Analysis: Perform comprehensive financial statement analysis, create and maintain financial models, and interpret company and industry data.
• Cross-Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with various product groups and industry teams within Global Banking and Markets.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Math, Engineering, Economics, Science or Technology.
• Experience: 0-3 years’ work experience in Investment Banking.
• Skills: Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting, and financial theory; strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent command of Microsoft Suite, with an emphasis on Excel; a high level of attention to detail.
