Analyst Data Governance & Management | American Express

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at American Express, located in India. The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners across American Express to power the company’s growth and innovation, driving competitive differentiation. The Enterprise Data Office (EDO), part of Technology, sets the enterprise strategy for critical data-related initiatives to accelerate digital transformation, enhance customer experience, strengthen data practices, and drive continued growth. This role supports the activation of data management and data governance across business units, providing essential support in training, communications, and change management.

• Team: Enterprise Data Office (EDO) within the Technology organization.
• Mission: Support the enterprise-wide activation and management of data governance policies and practices, including training and communication.
• Tech Stack: Collibra, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, AWS, Lumi, Cornerstone, Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK).

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Management Activation: Activate data management practices according to enterprise policy across American Express business units.
• Governance Support: Provide support for enterprise-wide data governance training, communications, and change management initiatives.
• Project Execution: Manage multiple data governance-related projects simultaneously, ensuring organized and timely execution.
• Risk Mitigation: Identify, assess, and mitigate data-related risks within data management practices.
• Stakeholder Communication: Convey complex data concepts clearly to diverse non-technical stakeholders and influence data practices across the organization.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, with a focus on enterprise data governance and management.
• Experience: 2-4 years in data governance, data management, or related roles, preferably within the financial services industry.
• Skills: In-depth understanding of data governance principles including metadata management, data lineage, data quality, and data stewardship; strong knowledge of risk data management practices; proficiency with data governance tools like Collibra and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, along with SQL; excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Bonus: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent certification; experience with data integration tools and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Lumi, Cornerstone); understanding of the financial services industry’s regulatory environment and data-related compliance requirements.
