Job Description:
Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Aircraft Component Inspector to join their team in the RMS Business Unit. This is a full-time, hourly position with a standard Monday-Friday 40-hour workweek. The position requires the individual to be onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and perform complete inspection operations on prototypes, production, and model change aircraft components, including transmissions, rotor heads, gearboxes, and power plant systems.
• Inspect components at various stages of assembly, from detail parts to final aircraft acceptance.
• Follow inspection procedures, drawings, check sheets, and other instructions to perform complex test and inspection duties.
• Perform Dynamic Balance and ATP inspections.
• Inspect and evaluate detail parts for discrepancies, including visual damage, using standard measuring instruments.
• Evaluate assemblies at all stages for items like drag, endplay, and gear patterns.
• Reinspect parts after rework and ensure compliance with special customer requests.
• Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Service teams to resolve discrepancies and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Review and disposition of nonconforming material using the NMRR database.
• Perform inspection operations and briefings at off-plant locations.
• Maintain historical records of units and record affectivity of all changes.
• Lead and instruct other inspectors as required.
Qualifications:
• Requires a well-rounded knowledge of aircraft component inspection procedures, manufacturing functions, assembly, and mechanical operations.
• Ability to read and interpret complicated drawings, use precision measuring instruments, follow engineering orders, and interpret military and commercial specifications.
• 2-4 years of high school education plus 2-3 years of mechanical trades training.
• Must maintain required certifications, including Flight Safety Parts Certification.
• 3-5 years of experience.
Desired Skills:
• FAA Airframe and Powerplants Certification
