Job Description, Detailed

This is a robust internship opportunity specifically designed for Criminal Justice majors who are seeking to fulfill requirements for their Undergraduate degree. The intern will be integral to the operations of Wheeler Clinic’s Alternative in the Community (AIC) program.

As an intern with the AIC program, you will gain practical, hands-on experience in a community-based intervention setting for adults involved with the court or probation. While the specific daily tasks are not explicitly detailed, working “with our AIC program” implies active participation and support in its various services. This could involve assisting with:
• Implementing or facilitating components of substance use intervention.
• Supporting trauma groups or other therapeutic activities.
• Aiding in skill-building workshops.
• Contributing to job development and placement efforts.
• Assisting with case management activities, potentially including client interaction and administrative tasks.
• Helping to connect individuals with educational, basic needs, and vocational supports.
• Supporting the delivery of gender-responsive programming.

This internship offers a valuable opportunity to apply academic knowledge of criminal justice in a real-world setting, contributing directly to an evidence-based model aimed at assessing individual needs and reducing recidivism within the criminal justice system. The internship would provide exposure to the processes of adult probation, court, and parole referrals within a community intervention context.
