We are actively seeking talented AI Research Interns to join our dynamic team of researchers. This role involves tackling foundational AI problems that are critical to the evolution of Intuit’s diverse portfolio of fintech offerings. As a research intern, you will immerse yourself in cutting-edge AI technologies, driving the development of innovative solutions that not only push the state-of-the-art in AI but also significantly enhance our customer experience.

Current areas of exploration and research within our team include, but are not limited to:

  • Robust and Safe AI, including advanced work in Generative AI
  • Neuro-Symbolic AI, focusing on knowledge representation, learning, and constraint satisfaction
  • Reinforcement Learning
  • Agents and Multi-Agent Systems
  • Post-training and Inference Time Scaling in Language Models
  • Decision Theory

Responsibilities

As an AI Research Intern at Intuit, you will collaborate with a high-caliber team comprising research scientists, domain experts, data scientists, and machine learning engineers. Your primary responsibilities will involve:

  • Conducting in-depth research into and applying the latest innovations in relevant AI topics.
  • Developing advanced capabilities that address both the current and future needs of our customers.

Qualifications

To be considered for this challenging and rewarding internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • Demonstrated experience in at least one core area of AI, such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Modeling (LLM), Generative AI, Uncertainty Quantification, Reinforcement Learning, Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization, or similar specialized domains.
  • An established track record of publication, ideally showcased through first-author publications in top-tier AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, AAAI, EMNLP, AISTATS, KDD).
  • Proficiency in developing and debugging code in Python, with hands-on experience using frameworks like Tensorflow, PyTorch, or similar deep learning libraries.
  • Proven experience in the dissemination of scientific work in English, evidenced by successful paper submissions and presentations at conferences.

Eligibility

Candidates must also fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis for the entire duration of the internship.
  • A projected graduation date that is at least 4 months after the scheduled end date of the internship.
  • The ability to work onsite for a minimum of 3 days per week.

Compensation

Intuit is committed to offering a competitive compensation package that reflects a strong pay-for-performance rewards philosophy. This position is eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards, and comprehensive benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs. The compensation offered is determined by various factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and the work location. Intuit regularly conducts internal comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender to ensure ongoing fair pay for all employees.

The expected base pay range for this position in Mountain View, CA is: $36.50 – $73.79 USD.
