Job Description: AI/ML Internship

This internship provides hands-on experience in developing and integrating machine learning tools within an accounting context. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining exposure to real-world accounting workflows and contributing to cutting-edge projects. The internship is designed to be a learning experience, with mentorship provided throughout.

Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:

Machine Learning Model Development & Testing: Assist in building and testing machine learning models for tasks such as transaction categorization, ledger automation, and financial data reconciliation.
Predictive Tax Planning: Support the development of predictive tax planning models using historical datasets and statistical analysis.
Data Preparation & Analysis: Participate in the cleaning, preparation, and analysis of data for tax resolution analytics and compliance projects.
Documentation & User Guides: Help document AI/ML workflows and create user guides for internal accounting tools.
Shadowing & Learning: Observe senior staff to understand how AI solutions integrate with accounting standards, IRS regulations, and client needs.
Troubleshooting & System Improvement: Collaborate with developers and accountants to identify and resolve model inaccuracies and improve system efficiency.
Technical Training: Attend training sessions focused on Python, TensorFlow, and cloud platforms as they relate to accounting-specific AI applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Accounting, or a related field.
• Demonstrated foundational knowledge in Python, SQL, or machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) through coursework or projects.
• Basic understanding of data analytics and a genuine interest in applying these skills to accounting and finance.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning both technical and accounting concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience with financial datasets or bookkeeping principles (through coursework or internships).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud) or data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
• Interest in creating user-friendly client-facing AI tools or dashboards.

Internship Details:

Duration: 3–6 months (flexible start/end dates)
Hours: 15–20 hours/week (flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments)
Compensation: Unpaid, but eligible for academic credit (if approved by your institution).
