Job Description: AI Internship – Operational Excellence Department
This is a full-time, paid summer internship program at the Panasonic Energy facility in the Kansas City Metro Area.
Internship Duration: 12 weeks, starting Monday, May 19th and ending Friday, August 8th (subject to change).
Responsibilities:
• Develop innovative techniques and infrastructure: From initial idea to running prototype and product, interns will be involved in the entire process.
• Research and development: In a research-like environment, you will write code, utilize the latest machine learning tools, run experiments, and develop techniques and processes to enable intelligent abilities on industrial applications.
• Collaboration: Partner with teams across the company to implement your ideas into their products.
• Stay connected to the broader research community: Partner with internal and external collaborators, participate in relevant conferences.
• Contribute to fundamental research: Provide essential solutions to problems facing the company.
• Visualize and explain your work: Present findings through presentations and notebooks.
• Accelerate AI application: Work with business divisions to integrate AI solutions into company-wide business processes.
• Publish research findings: Publish research findings in leading academic venues and represent the company at external conferences.
• Develop and maintain production-quality code: Utilize Python or C++ and demonstrate programming knowledge to a research group.
• Design, experiment, and evaluate models: Research, design, and implement novel, highly scalable Deep Learning algorithms for various data types including image, thermal, depth sensor, Lidar, acoustic, graphs, tables, and more.
• Strategy development: Lead or participate in the development of research proposals focused on the lab’s applications.
• Contribute to strategic decision-making: Support strategic decision-making regarding various scientific problems.
• Promote collaborative research: Work with an interdisciplinary research team.
• Digest and understand complex research: Analyze complex research papers, theory, and thinking, with the ability to write algorithms from scratch.
• Report and present engineering developments: Clearly and efficiently communicate engineering developments to internal and external collaborators both verbally and in writing.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): This may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.
Qualifications:
• Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Math, or a related discipline with at least two years of full-time enrollment.
• Essential:
• Minimum GPA of 3.2
• Basic knowledge of project management processes and tools.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write and communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
• Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
• Preferred:
• Hands-on experience acquired through internships, jobs, research, or personal projects.
• A desire to create a sustainable future through energy storage, renewable energy, and electric vehicles.
