Description:

Panasonic Energy is seeking interns to join their creative team in the AI department. This full-time, paid summer internship program will be held onsite at the Panasonic Energy facility in the Kansas City Metro area.

Internship Duration: The program is 12 weeks long, planned to take place from Monday, May 19th to Friday, August 8th. This date range is subject to change.

Responsibilities:

Develop AI solutions: Interns will be involved in the entire process of developing AI-powered solutions, from initial concept to prototype and final product.
Code and experiment: You will write code, utilize the latest machine learning tools, and run experiments to develop techniques and processes for intelligent abilities on industrial applications.
Collaborate and implement: Partner with teams across Panasonic Energy to implement your ideas into their products.
Stay connected: Remain engaged with the broader research community by collaborating with internal and external partners and participating in relevant conferences.
Contribute to fundamental research: Work on solving company-wide problems through research.
Visualize and explain: Present your work through presentations and notebooks.
Accelerate AI application: Work with other teams, including the business division, to accelerate AI applications in company-wide processes.
Publish findings: Publish research findings in leading academic venues and represent Panasonic Energy at external conferences.
Develop and implement algorithms: Design, experiment, and implement highly scalable Deep Learning algorithms, focusing on various types of data, including images, thermal depth sensor, Lidar, acoustic, graphs, tables, and more.
Develop strategy: Lead or participate in developing strategic direction for the field of DL with a focus on the lab’s applications, providing support in strategic decision-making.
Lead research proposals: Lead or contribute to the development of research proposals.
Promote collaborative research: Foster interdisciplinary research collaborations.
Analyze and interpret research: Digest and understand complex research papers, theory, and thinking.
Own and present engineering developments: Clearly and efficiently communicate engineering developments to internal and external collaborators verbally and in writing.
Produce high-quality code: Write, test, and maintain production-quality code using Python or C++.

Currently pursuings:

Education: Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Math, or related discipline.
Essential Currently pursuings:
• Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited four-year college or university.
• Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) in a Bachelor’s degree program in the relevant field.
• GPA of 3.2 or higher.
• Basic knowledge of project management processes and tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write and communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
• Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Preferred Currently pursuings:
• Hands-on experience acquired through internships, jobs, research, or personal projects.
• A desire to create a sustainable future through energy storage, renewable energy, and electric vehicles.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

Wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.
