The Dodge Family College of Arts & Sciences (DFCAS) is committed to advancing its AI strategy by integrating student perspectives, particularly from the humanities. This vital role enables two OU undergraduates to contribute directly to the college’s technological future, helping to shape AI policies, resources, and understanding across faculty, staff, and students. Interns will develop practical skills crucial for future careers in higher education, non-profit, or any field requiring AI literacy and strong communication.

• Team: Interns assist Jeremy Hessman (DFCAS IT Strategist) and work as a research team.
• Mission: This person will help integrate AI effectively and ethically within the Dodge Family College of Arts & Sciences by evaluating tools, developing resources, and understanding college-wide AI usage.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Applied Research: Help design, deploy, and meticulously analyze a college-wide DFCAS AI survey, which captures how faculty, staff, and students are currently using AI, their preferred tools, concerns, and identified gaps, then translate these responses into a written report that directly informs college-level decisions and strategy.
• Stakeholder Communication: Practice clear and effective communication by engaging with diverse university stakeholders, including faculty, department chairs, administrators, and student groups, through conducting interviews, drafting concise summaries, and translating complex technical concepts into accessible language for non-technical audiences.
• AI Tool Evaluation: Systematically research and vet various AI tools for potential use across the diverse DFCAS disciplines, subsequently writing plain-language guides and building a comprehensive, curated prompt library organized by specific discipline and relevant use cases to facilitate adoption.
• Content Development: Proactively build and continuously maintain the central DFCAS AI resource hub, which will be a SharePoint site designed to house thoroughly vetted AI tools, customizable prompt templates, essential faculty guides, relevant policy documents, and valuable training materials for the entire college community.
• Event Coordination: Provide comprehensive support for various college events related to AI, including working group meetings, faculty workshops, crucial listening sessions, and a dedicated AI Day event, by preparing detailed agendas, accurately capturing meeting notes, diligently tracking action items, and effectively coordinating logistics with department liaisons.

• Background: Student. Must be an OU undergraduate and a full-time student within the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences (DFCAS).
• Experience: No specific years required. The role seeks students who already possess interpretive skills in close reading, source evaluation, ethical reasoning, qualitative research, and good writing.
