About the Job (AI Intern at K1)

Position Title: AI Intern

Location: Manhattan Beach, CA

Job Type: This is a Part-Time paid internship, requiring 15–20 hours per week, with a compensation of $30 per hour. The start date is on a rolling basis.

Position Summary:
K1 is seeking an AI Intern with a passion for artificial intelligence and its application in transforming business operations. This role is crucial for their Business Development team, focusing on automating core workflows and enhancing data-driven sourcing strategies to identify investment opportunities in high-potential software companies. The intern will collaborate closely with both the Business Development and Data teams. This is an excellent opportunity to apply technical and analytical skills within a high-impact private equity setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Building and refining AI/automation tools specifically designed to support the sourcing of software investment opportunities.
• Assisting in the development and deployment of scripts or applications for data extraction, enrichment, and analysis.
Leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies such as APIs, Large Language Models (LLMs) like GPT, and other machine learning models to automate repetitive research and outreach tasks.
• Working with proprietary systems to ensure high data quality and support comprehensive pipeline visibility.
Collaborating directly with Business Development team members to identify areas where AI can significantly drive efficiency or provide valuable insights.
• Staying current on the latest AI and automation trends, particularly those relevant to B2B software and private equity workflows.

Requirements:

Education: Must be a current undergraduate student, graduate student, or a recent graduate with a major in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
Technical Skills:
• A strong interest in artificial intelligence and its practical applications in automation.
Working knowledge of Python or another programming language relevant to automation or data workflows.
Experience with LLMs, LangChain, web scraping, or API integrations is highly valued.
Soft Skills:
• Ability to work independently within a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to effectively translate complex business problems into clear technical solutions.
• Demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit coupled with a positive attitude.
