The Tone:
This is a senior full-time role at Mashreq, likely located in the UAE. Mashreq is a financial institution focused on integrating AI into its operations. This position is critical for developing and executing robust audit strategies, ensuring the integrity, compliance, and ethical use of AI and Generative AI systems across the bank, safeguarding against novel risks while supporting technological advancement.

• Team: Leads the AI Audit team within Mashreq’s Shared Services Audit function, guiding and developing team members.
• Mission: Develop and implement risk-based AI/GenAI audit strategies aligned with the Bank’s AI agenda and regulatory expectations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement risk-based AI/GenAI audit strategies aligned with the Bank’s AI agenda and regulatory expectations, executing audits across the full AI/ML lifecycle.
• Governance & Ethics Assurance: Provide assurance on AI governance, model risk management, ethics, fairness, bias, explainability, and human-in-the-loop controls.
• GenAI Use Case & Cybersecurity Audits: Audit GenAI/LLM use cases, including RAG pipelines and prompt engineering, and assess AI cybersecurity risks like adversarial attacks and prompt injection.
• Third-Party & Regulatory Compliance: Evaluate third-party AI risks covering foundation model providers and cloud AI platforms, while assessing compliance with AI and data regulations such as CBUAE and UAE PDPL.
• Reporting & Transformation: Prepare and present impactful audit reports to senior leadership, translate complex AI concepts into business language, and partner in Internal Audit AI transformation initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, AI, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field; a Master’s in AI/ML or Data Science is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 10–12 years in IT audit, technology risk, model risk, or AI/data governance, with at least 3–4 years directly focused on AI/ML or GenAI risk, governance, or audit, preferably in banking. CISA certification is mandatory (or to be obtained within 12 months).
• Skills: Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts (supervised, unsupervised, deep learning, NLP, computer vision) and GenAI/LLMs (foundation models, transformers, embeddings, RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering). Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills to convey complex AI concepts.
• Bonus: Hands-on involvement in an organization’s AI initiatives (e.g., use case build, MLOps, GenAI product), banking/financial services domain knowledge, or experience with AI-enabled internal audit tools.
