Job Description: AI Data Cloud Internship – Fall 2025

This is a paid, full-time internship offering post-internship career opportunities (full-time and/or additional internships). Interns will be immersed in a fast-paced, fun, and inclusive culture, working alongside world-class experts on challenging projects. The role provides opportunities for meaningful contributions to a real system used by Snowflake’s customers. Interns will receive detailed direction and mentorship from supervisors, regular feedback, and a final evaluation. Qualifications:

• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college/university program during the internship.
Desired class level: 3rd/4th year Undergraduates, Masters, or PhD students.
Desired majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related fields.
Required coursework: Algorithms, data structures, software engineering, and operating systems.
Recommended coursework: Cloud computing, compilers, database systems, distributed systems, functional PL, networking.
Bonus experience: Research or publications in databases or distributed systems, contributions to open source, and experience working with big data (engineering/processing).
Excellent programming skills in C++ or Java. Preferred knowledge of C++20 or C++17, Java 20 or Java 17.
Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
Systems programming skills, including multi-threading and concurrency.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.
• Experience working as part of a team.

Internship Details:

When: Fall 2025
Eligible start dates: August 15, September 12
Eligible end dates: November 7, December 19
Duration: Minimum 12 weeks, recommended 16 weeks (maximum 12 months)

What You Will Learn/Gain:

• How to build enterprise-grade, reliable, and trustworthy software/services.
• Exposure to SQL or other database technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Understanding of database internals, large-scale data processing, transaction processing, distributed systems, and data warehouse design.
• Implementation and testing of features in query compilation, compiler design, and query execution.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud).
• Learning about cutting-edge database technology and research.

Possible Teams/Work Focus Areas:

• Various spaces within Database Query Engine (compiler, query optimization, query execution & performance, SQL frameworks, etc.).
• FoundationDB key-value store (FDB storage, FDB Performance, etc.).
• Hybrid Transactional & Analytical Processing (Unistore).
• High-performance large-scale data processing.
• Large-scale distributed systems.
• Software-as-a-Service platform.
• Software frameworks for stability and performance testing.

Compensation (US Only):
