Key Responsibilities

  • Field Agronomics & Customer Support: Directly assist an Agronomy Sales Representative with essential field activities, including comprehensive crop scouting to identify potential issues, meticulous soil sampling for nutrient analysis, and proactive field agronomic problem-solving to support optimal crop health and yield.
  • Farm Trial Management: Take ownership of designing, monitoring, and accurately summarizing farm trials. This role involves working directly with CHS producers to generate valuable data and insights, which will be presented to both our customers and the broader agronomy team.
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Apply principles of integrated pest management techniques to effectively determine appropriate treatment thresholds, ensuring sustainable and efficient pest control strategies.
  • Reporting & Presentation: Develop clear, concise written reports detailing findings from field activities and trials, and confidently present these reports to supervisors and/or customers.
  • Product & Service Expertise: Gain an in-depth understanding of the features and benefits of all agronomy products and services offered by CHS. This includes assisting with over-the-counter sales and supporting efficient product delivery to our customers.
  • Operations & Logistics: Learn and actively participate in various warehouse and agronomy plant operations, understanding the critical flow of products and materials.
  • Inventory & Invoicing Management: Become proficient in utilizing our specialized computer program, Agris, for accurate invoicing and inventory management, contributing to streamlined business processes.
  • Inventory Control: Provide support in executing crucial inventory management procedures, ensuring stock accuracy and availability.
  • Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Develop skills in routine maintenance of equipment and facilities, contributing to operational efficiency and safety.
  • Safety & Compliance: Actively work within and help maintain an environment that strictly adheres to state, local, and CHS Environmental and Safety policies, fostering a culture of safety.
  • Custom Application (if applicable): Opportunity to perform custom application services if qualified and/or as operational needs arise, expanding practical skill sets.
  • Cross-Departmental Support: Assist other departments as needed, demonstrating teamwork and adaptability.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Currently enrolled in an Ag Business, Crop Science, or other Agriculture related degree program.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Compensation & Benefits

CHS offers a highly competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes a base wage, and depending upon the specific position, may also include other earnings such as bonus, incentives, and commissions. The actual pay offered will be determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, educational background, specialized training, unique skills, certifications, and minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
