Job Description: Agronomy Operations Intern (Summer 2026)

CHS is offering an exceptional internship opportunity for an Agronomy Operations Intern in Selby, SD. This role provides a dynamic learning environment with competitive pay and potential for long-term growth opportunities within the company.

The internship is primarily for Summer 2026, but there is flexibility for it to start as early as Spring 2026, depending on business needs and the intern’s availability, and can extend throughout the summer months.

As an Agronomy Operations Intern, you will play a crucial role in collaborating closely with CHS customers, aiming to deliver top-notch service and provide valuable insights into agronomy practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Agronomy Skills Development: Gain comprehensive knowledge of general agronomy skills, including:
Scouting: Learning techniques for observing and assessing crop health and issues.
Crop Protection Products: Understanding various products used to protect crops from pests and diseases.
Crop Nutrient Products: Familiarizing yourself with different fertilizers and nutrient solutions.
Seed: Learning about various seed types, their characteristics, and optimal usage.
Custom Application Procedures: Understanding the processes for applying agronomy products.
Mixing Procedures: Learning how to safely and effectively mix different products.
Truck Driving and Product Delivery: Operating trucks to deliver agronomy products to customers.
Operations Execution: Actively perform all general agronomy and seed operations as required.
Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain the quality of agronomy inventory, ensuring products meet standards.
Maintenance and Record Keeping: Regulate and perform periodic housecleaning processes within the facility and ensure accurate record keeping for operations.
Equipment Maintenance: Assist with repairs and preventative maintenance for a wide range of agronomy equipment, including legs, conveyors, towers, vehicles, sprayers, floaters, and trucks.
Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, assisting customers with their needs and inquiries.
Safety and Compliance: Work within and maintain an environment that is fully compliant with state, local, and CHS Environmental and Safety policies.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education: Currently enrolled in an Ag Business, Crop Science, or other Agriculture-related degree program.
Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Software.

Additional Qualifications (Helpful, but Not Required):

Agriculture Experience: Previous agriculture experience or background knowledge.
Internship Experience: Prior internship experience.

Compensation and Benefits:

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes a base wage and may also include other earnings such as bonus, incentives, and commissions, depending on the position. Actual pay will be determined based on various factors including experience, education, training, specialized skills, certifications, and local minimum wage/salary requirements.

Eligible interns may also participate in the 401(k) program.
