Job Description

This detailed job description provides insights into an exciting Agentic AI Software Engineer Intern opportunity at T-Mobile, focusing on their innovative IntentCX program.

### About T-Mobile & the Internship Program

T-Mobile is synonymous with innovation and has a track record of disrupting an entire industry. From reinventing customer service and bringing real 5G to the nation to now shaping the future of technology in wireless and beyond, T-Mobile offers a dynamic and rewarding environment.

This is an 11-week paid learning experience designed to give you hands-on experience, training, and a leg up on a bright future. You’ll have the opportunity to connect and network with other interns and leaders within the company. We invite you to innovate with mentors who will challenge you to develop meaningful skills. You’ll contribute your creativity and outstanding ideas, working alongside T-Mobile employees on hands-on projects that allow you to create an immediate impact.

### Internship Focus: Agentic AI Software Engineer

This role is critical in designing, building, and scaling the core execution engine that powers T-Mobile’s IntentCX agentic AI experiences across mobile apps, web platforms, and customer support channels—including both text and voice interactions. You will architect and implement software systems that enable AI-driven decisioning, orchestration, and dynamic customer engagement at massive scale.

#### What You’ll Do:

Build and iterate on the software components that power T-Mobile’s IntentCX program.
• Develop across modalities (chat and voice) using OpenAI’s chat and real-time voice models.
• Focus on either:
Customer service, helping to answer questions and integrate customer data.
How T-Mobile sells its products, integrating AI into sales processes.
• Have a direct impact to hundreds of thousands of customer interactions every day!

#### Key Responsibilities:

Working closely with AI/ML engineers, platform engineers, and product teams, you will create reliable, high-performance components that allow our agentic AI to plan, act, and respond intelligently in real time across conversational modalities. This includes:

• Developing microservices, workflow engines, and integration layers.
• Connecting large language model (LLM) reasoning with network, billing, account, and support systems.

### What It Takes: Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

Coding experience (Python is usually key for AI work)
Understanding of how APIs work
Problem-solving mindset: You need to figure out what customers actually need, not just build cool tech.
Communication skills to explain technical work to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams.
Comfortable with ambiguity: AI projects rarely have clear-cut answers.
Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or chatbot frameworks is a plus.

### Eligibility & Logistics

Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age.
Work Authorization: Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Education:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a degree program and have at least one semester remaining following the internship.
Ineligibility: Employees of T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile are ineligible for internships.
Visa Sponsorship: Employer does not sponsor work visas for this position. Note that this also applies to individuals who are students in F-1 status who desire sponsorship after they complete their education.
Relocation: Relocation may be provided to program participants who reside more than 50 miles from the internship location.
Compensation: Intern wages range from $20/hour to $40/hour. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on experience/location.

### Company Culture & Equal Opportunity

T-Mobile believes in continuous growth, likening their career path to a “jungle gym of possibilities” rather than a corporate ladder. They encourage employees to grow their careers, driving business and culture forward.
