Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) Investigator | CGS Federal (Contact Government Services)

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at CGS Federal, supporting a large Federal agency initiative. This role is critical for assisting federal attorneys by generating and conducting investigations into fraud and abuse of federal public funds, directly contributing to government innovation and effective civil enforcement.

• Mission: Generate and advance investigations to detect and address fraud and abuse of federal public funds and programs for a large Federal agency.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Investigations: Generate new investigations and continue ongoing civil actions involving fraud in areas such as healthcare, contracting, grants, and other abuse of federal public funds.
• Data Utilization: Utilize electronic databases, including public records, property records, business records, and other government-maintained databases, to identify documents, witnesses, and evidence.
• Data Analysis: Perform sophisticated analyses of large-scale hard-copy and electronic data, such as health care claims, financial transactions, accounting, or bank records, to develop investigative leads.
• Case Support: Assist ACE AUSAs with in-person and/or telephonic interviews of witnesses, depositions, and sworn witness examinations.
• Reporting: Prepare reports on the progress of investigations for AUSAs and supervisory attorneys, including significant findings, conclusions, and recommendations for further action.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced ACE Investigator with extensive knowledge and skills in investigative techniques and fraud detection, primarily within Legal Services.
• Experience: Professional experience supporting legal teams in investigative and civil enforcement contexts, demonstrating an ability to think independently and develop investigative strategies for specific cases.
• Skills: Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, and Adobe Acrobat Professional; ability to review and understand a wide variety of legal and non-legal documents; strong communication skills for interacting professionally with all levels of staff; ability to meet established deadlines and work collaboratively in an office environment; courteous and tactful interpersonal skills.
• Bonus: Experience with document review/management platforms such as Relativity, analyzing spreadsheets of claims data, and utilizing docketing software.
