Job Description: Aeronautical / Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Propulsion Engineer
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is seeking an experienced Aeronautical / Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Propulsion Engineer to join their team in Dallas, Texas. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated engineer with a passion for innovation and a strong desire to contribute to the development of cutting-edge aerospace technologies.
Responsibilities:
• This position focuses on Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion Engineering, encompassing research, design, analysis, evaluation, and testing in support of existing and developing aerospace products and technologies.
• The engineer will work closely with a well-known SRM propulsion supplier, providing technical oversight for the rapid development, test, and manufacturing of a solid rocket motor.
• Key responsibilities include:
• Assisting in the development of product specifications and statements of requirements
• Coordinating motor performance predictions and interfaces with the Missile IPT
• Developing comprehensive test plans
• Supporting supplier and system-level testing
• Coordinating and running weekly working group meetings with motor suppliers
• Presenting motor status at internal meetings and formal program meetings with Lockheed Martin and customers
• Coordinating with product design, interface development, and other departments
• Maintaining and releasing engineering drawings and documents using PLM
• The position demands strong technical skills in a fast-paced environment.
• The role involves moderate travel to support SRM manufacturing, program meetings, and ground testing.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent accredited degree program).
• Professional, hands-on experience in propulsion engineering.
• Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of propulsion sciences (e.g., thermodynamics, compressible flow/gas dynamics, aerodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, vehicle flight performance parameters).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required).
Desired Skills:
• Strong test planning, communication, and execution skills.
• Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Foundational knowledge of basic design packages such as SolidWorks, Pro-E, or CATIA.
• Desire to work in the analysis arena to include stress, dynamics, thermodynamics, and/or propulsion.
