About AT&T Labs and the Internship:
AT&T Labs is the research and development arm of AT&T, a leading telecommunications company. They boast eight Nobel prizes among their researchers and are focused on innovation in wireless and fiber networks. The Network Chief Technology Office (CTO) organization within AT&T Labs develops technology roadmaps and long-range, end-to-end network architectures. The work encompasses a broad range of technologies including data analytics, AI and automation, and software and technology systems for network architecture and optimization. The internship offers a chance to contribute to real-world challenges alongside industry leaders, working on the latest developments in network technologies and applications.
This specific internship is an Advanced Internship, requiring a completed undergraduate degree and current enrollment in an advanced degree (PhD) program. Interns will gain practical work experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities within a top-tier telecommunications research environment. The work focuses on the creation of mobility and fiber networks and relevant supporting technologies. Experience and awareness in network & services and IP and voice services are considered helpful. The ability to conduct original and independent research is a key requirement.
Job Description Details:
The Advanced Internship at AT&T Labs offers the opportunity to work on real-world challenges in the development of future network technologies. The successful candidate will collaborate with experienced professionals on projects related to:
• Network Architecture and Optimization: Designing and improving the architecture and performance of wireless and fiber networks.
• Data Analytics: Utilizing data analysis techniques to understand network behavior and identify areas for improvement.
• AI and Automation: Developing and implementing AI and automation solutions to manage and optimize network operations.
• Software and Technology Systems: Creating and maintaining software systems that support network infrastructure and functionality.
Qualifications:
• Education: Must possess an undergraduate degree and be currently enrolled in an advanced degree (PhD) program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Physics, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Statistics, or a related technical field.
• Research Experience: Demonstrated ability to conduct original and independent research.
• Network Experience (Helpful): Experience and awareness in network & services and IP and voice services.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Salary: $77,800 – $140,200 yearly (depending on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training).
