Job Description: Admission Officer

Basic Function: To support the College’s enrollment strategies through recruitment, evaluation, and yield programs for prospective and admitted students.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Territory Management (20%): Serve as the territory manager for assigned US and international territories. This includes: visiting high schools (in-person and virtually), attending college fairs (in-person and virtually), hosting counselor programs, and managing volunteers in the assigned area. Requires up to three consecutive weeks and up to ten weeks of travel annually.

Special Projects (20%): Work with the Director of Admission and a team of admission officers on assigned projects.

Application Review and Evaluation (20%): Review and evaluate first-year and transfer applications according to College standards and policies. Participate in all admission committee meetings.

Collaboration (5%): Collaborate across departments at CMC and within the Claremont Colleges Consortium to achieve enrollment goals.

On-Campus Recruitment Support (15%): Lead on-campus information sessions, conduct interviews, handle phone calls and emails, welcome walk-in visitors, answer general inquiries, and lead campus tours as needed.

On-Campus Program Support (10%): Support all on-campus recruitment and yield programs coordinated by the Admission Office.

Other Duties (10%): Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admission.

Essential Functions: Regular attendance is mandatory. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, follow directions, work cooperatively, receive and respond to constructive criticism, maintain a positive attitude, and balance multiple tasks and priorities.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: One year of experience as an admission counselor or one year of related professional experience in secondary or postsecondary education.
Licenses: Valid driver’s license (or equivalent alternative transportation) is required; ability to be insured under the College’s authorized driver’s policy is required for driving College vehicles.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Professional skills in interacting with students, counselors, parents, and colleagues to promote the College’s interests (effective presentation, customer service, phone and email etiquette).
• Proficiency with online video platforms for virtual recruitment.
• Understanding and ability to communicate the College’s liberal arts mission and history.
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, reading, and customer service skills; leadership skills to supervise student employees.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Slate CRM.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and tact.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; attention to detail.

Hours: Full-time (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday), with required holiday, weekend, and evening work, and travel.

Classification: Full-time, 12-month, year-round, exempt, benefits-eligible position.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Salary Range: $68,640 – $70,000 per year (commensurate with qualifications and experience).

Background Check: Required. A post-offer physical agility test may be required for certain positions.
