Administrative Manager – Department of Medicine | Mount Sinai Health System

• Mission: This person solves the challenge of coordinating daily operations, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance for a medical department or division.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Operations: Establish major schedules, assign tasks, and allocate manpower, space, and equipment to ensure the department meets its goals and objectives.
• Ensure Compliance: Administer departmental contracts and grants in accordance with Mount Sinai policies and sponsor requirements, and ensure all activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Oversee Finances: Assist in determining fiscal requirements, prepare budgetary recommendations, monitor expenditures, reconcile funds, and ensure adherence to established budget parameters.
• Provide Liaison: Maintain communication with all levels of administration, faculty, and outside organizations to coordinate operational activities, accomplish directives, and resolve problems.
• Manage Personnel: Interpret and administer personnel policies, including hiring, performance appraisals, training, disciplinary actions, and salary recommendations, ensuring compliance with equal employment regulations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field, functioning at a manager level within administrative, operational, or financial oversight.
• Experience: 5+ years of related business experience, demonstrating competency in applying general personnel practices, accounting and budgeting principles, and coordinating major administrative functions.
• Skills: Personnel administration, Accounting principles, Budget management, Grant administration, Regulatory compliance.
• Bonus: Master’s degree preferred.
