Bookkeeper | Arkansas Department of Transportation

This Bookkeeper role is vital for ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, managing expenditures, and providing essential data that supports efficient Division or District operations.

• Mission: Performing expenditure accounting, record keeping, and activity reporting functions to provide administrative support for Division or District operations.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
What You’ll Actually Do
• Transactions: Post and record financial transactions relevant to the various Department journals.
• Reconciliation: Ensure that all Department computer runs are accurately reconciled to the corresponding journals.
• Accounts Payable: Maintain and reconcile the accounts payable journal consistently.
• Reporting: Ensure that all required reports and correspondence are submitted in a timely manner.
• Data Provision: Provide essential accounting and expenditure data to Division or District management for accurate forecasting purposes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Educational equivalent to a diploma from an accredited high school, coupled with advanced training or experience in bookkeeping.
• Experience: Possess advanced training or practical experience in the field of bookkeeping.
• Skills: Ability to perform mathematical operations with precision and accurately record figures. Capable of interpreting and applying Departmental accounting and purchasing policies and procedures. Thorough familiarity with the operation of personal computers and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
• Bonus: Experience in data auditing and records maintenance is desired. Ability to operate a forklift is preferred.
