Intern – Accounting | Baker Group
The Tone:
This is an internship at Baker Group, located in-person. Baker Group supports construction projects, and this role contributes directly to the financial operations of these projects. The Intern will provide essential support to the accounting team, handling tasks from billing to budgeting and accounts payable, ensuring smooth financial processes for the company’s construction endeavors.

• Mission: To provide support to the accounting group by performing various functions related to construction project billings, collections, budgets, and accounts payable.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Accounting Software, Spectrum
What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Statement Preparation: Assist with preparing contractor tax statements for jobs when required.
• Job Billing: Assist with billing jobs, including both progress and complete billings, as submitted by Project Managers.
• Data Entry & Management: Assist with entering new jobs, budgets, labor rates, and other pertinent data into the Spectrum accounting system.
• Reporting Support: Assist with reviewing and updating CSRs (Customer Service Reports) and Overview Reports for all assigned Project Managers’ jobs.
• Document Matching: Assist with matching purchase orders and pack slips, and ensuring all invoices are accurately matched with their supporting documents.
• Vendor Statement Review: Assist with reviewing vendor statements to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position for individuals working toward a degree in an accounting field.
• Experience: Knowledge of Microsoft applications, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word, is required.
• Skills: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to multitask; commitment to ethical practice and confidentiality.
